Earthworks Engineering Design
Excavations and Filling shall be trimmed to final profiles including roadside drains, levels and grades. placement of further fill, or surfacing with pavement materials, or re-vegetation of construction surfaces, to minimize the duration of exposure of the formation.
All excavated material that can be excavated using a bucket excavator or bulldozer without the use of a breaker (need a breaker) is considered as common material and soft rock. Any igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rock which cannot be excavated without blasting or use of rippers, and all boulders or other detached stones each having a volume of 1 cubic meter or more as determined by physical measurement shall be considered as hard rock or boulders.
Unsuitable material encountered in the excavation at final levels shall be removed and replaced with suitable fill or pavement material as directed by the Calculation. Cut batters shall be formed to the following gradients requirement or otherwise required by this Specification, or as directed otherwise by the Calculation following inspection of the actual ground conditions encountered.
